Suggest Treatment For Fever & Loss Of Appetite

my son has a temp of 37.5 (taken via ear) - is this considered a fever? I gave him calpol at 4.30pm - as he is not himself at moment very wingy. GP disgnosed gastritis on Tuesday and suggested no treatment - however he is still not eating properly (about half what he usually eats) and also will not take a bottle at all. Drinking water via a beaker. Any suggestions/advice or am I just being an over-anxious mother? many thanks

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The normal aural (ear) temperature is 37.5 to 38 so this temperature is ok.

It can take a few days for the activity and appetite to return to normal. The important aspect is fluid intake because though he can go a few days without eating as normal, he needs to take enough fluids daily.

He may not want to use a lot at one time but he can use small amount frequently.
Monitor urine output to make sure it remains ok.

I hope this helps
