Suggest Treatment For Fever And Severe Sore Throat

My daughter went to the dr. yesterday with 101.4 F fever (she's 17) and severe sore throat without coughing or sneezing etc. She was tested for flu and strep but came back negative on strep and nothing on the flu test. They gave her Tamiflu but today she feels much better but has the pus pockets and red rash in the back of her throat, not fever today. Should she go back to see if she has strep and get antibiotics or let it run it's course.

Can understand your concern..

As per your complain fever along with sore throat are all the indications of viral infection..

As you told that she is being treated with Tamiflu which is an antiviral medicine and there is no fever now means that she is recovering.

As the red rash and pus pockets takes some time to cure you should continue with the medicine to get the relief and should not jump on antibiotics as antibiotics can relieve bacterial infection and not viral.

To relieve throat soreness along with medicine get warm saline gargles done..

Do not take hot and spicy food..

Taking warm milk with a pinch of turmeric at bed time can be helpful..
