Suggest Treatment For Extremely Dry Skin, Brittle Nails And Dry Eyes
Hello, I'm a 56 year old woman and am having extremely dry skin, brittle nails, dry eyes to the point it is effecting my vision. My skin is almost scaly looking on my legs. I'm not overweight and stay active and do have a vitamin B12 deficiency. I'm thinking maybe a thyroid problem or immune deficiency - I would like your opinion. Gail YYYY@YYYY
As per your query your symptoms such as dry skin, brittle nails, dry eyes along with scaling legs are of thyroid deficiency in your body i.e hypothyroidism. I would suggest you to visit a physician and get blood test done for thyroid hormones such as TSH, T4 and other blood tests such as CBC, Cholesterol, LFTs. After getting properly diagnosed for your condition start with hormone replacement therapy such as Levathyroxine and start with lowest possible dose.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
