Suggest Treatment For Ear Pain In A Child

My 3.5 year old son has cold and ear pain. Doctor has prescribed 10 drops of sinarest AF drops for 3 days for cold. As i have heard that Sinarest is a banned product, I am afraid to administer him the medication. Could you please guide which medication will be better for him for cold.

Hello,
Thanks for trusting healthcaremagic.
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

First of all,"sinarest" is a banned product,It is banned not because of any adverse effects or complications. It is banned because it is an illogical combination of multiple drugs. You don't need to worry regarding this because it does not any harm to your child.
Coming to your query, cold and ear ache is quite common in pediatric age group and it can be managed very effectively, chances for complications are less.
I suggest you to consult a general practitioner and get the following things done:-
1.Give him paracetamol syrup, dose of which depend on his weight.
2.Use saline nasal drops every fourth hourly,It will provide relief from ear ache.
3.Antihistamines like cetrezine can be given.
Generally cold will subside with these simple measures wuth in few days,If symptoms persist despite all these consult a pediatrician and do base line investigations and in that case ypur kid may require antibiotic therapy.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
Dr.Shinas Hussain
