General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

* As per my clinical experience, ear ache after fall on the side of the scalp is reason for annoying for a transient period of time.

* The reason behind the pain is usually external ligament or muscle pull when hitting the ground and less number of cases follow post consussion symptoms in this fashion.

* As the symptoms are resolved at present, I would recommend.

- observation of child for next 24 hours with any positive complaint.
- contact 911 in case of increasing headache, spinning, vertigo, vomiting, altering mental status, convulsive movements, ear, nose or throat bleed.

* Primary care would be analgesic in form of ibuprofen and paracetamol syrup or dispersible tablet formulation every 8 hourly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
