My son has had an ear infection for over a month now, he has antibiotics but it has still not cleared. Our GP has seen white spots in his ear and has now decided to refer him to a specialist. He told me he felt very light headed and shaking today which lasted a few minutes so am a little worried now. He is 28
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have ear infection and infection is not subsiding with antibiotics. It seems to be due to fungal infection, wax build up, fluid accumulation, Eustachian tube dysfunction and systemic disease infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply warm dry compresses to external ear. You should keep your ear dry until it gets alright , which is very important and cover your ear while bathing. Do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day. Put Otogesic ear drops. You should go for audiometer testing as well to check hearing level. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may examine by otoscopic means to check level of infection. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for a week along with decongestants.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
