Suggest Treatment For Ear Infection, Nausea, Sore Throat And Nasal Congestion

My 16 year old daughter has an ear infection that was diagnosed today at our doctor s office. He prescribed amoxicillian which she is to take 1 tablet 2 times a day, 1 in the morning and 1 at supper time. I gave her the first dose at 5 and the second dose at 10 and now she is feeling nauseated. Is this an overdose? She also has a sore throat, nasal congestion and a cough that the doctor told me give her cough syrup for which I did. I am just worried, is this just a side effect or worse?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are typical of upper respiratory infection which is quite common among young individuals.

Amoxicillin is a good choice and the treatment is in the right track. The nausea and discomfort are the part of the disease and not related to the drug.

Nothing much to worry and drink plenty of water and take rest. The symptoms will settle in few days by itself.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
