Suggest Treatment For Digestive Problems In Infants

Hi, I have a 3-month old infant. She has the following digestive problems: 1) Feeding is 4 ozs. of formula. She spits up 2 ozs. of the 4 ozs. 2) She appears normal except for occassionally crying. One pediatrician and one general practitioner could not find anything wrong. The practitioner put her on ranitidine. All my research says that she will grow out of this condition within 18 months. I'm afraid that this constant throw up at every feeding will cause permanent internal damage if persists for months. Please help.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi
Welcome to the healthcaremagic
She has GERD(gastroesophageal reflux disease) which is physiological till 3 months. It is seen fairly commonly in 10-15%babies.There is no definitive medicine for it.It decreases by 6-12 months after starting solids.Till then give her proton pump inhibitor to decrease chances of esophagitis due to reflux.Propped up position after feed helps in some babies.Milk Scan can be done to diagnose it
Happy to help you
Best regards
