Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea Post Augmentin Intake

Hi, My wife is 62, she has a nephrostomy tube into her left kidney, she is recovering from vaginal cancer and has been free for 5 mos. about a week ago her glands on her neck swelled up and we went to her MD who prescribed Augmenton (500-125 mg 3 times a day for 7 days, this took the swelling down but gave her diarrhea really bad, she quit taking it after 4 days. she developed a fever yesterday and it is now up to 103.5, her bp is 135 over 70 but her heart rate is 105. we live 1.5 hrs from the hospital. what can I do to ease the fever

The diarrhea may have been caused by the Augmentin upsetting the intestinal flora. However this doesn't cause such high spiking fever which needs to be investigated. It would be good to see a doctor, have her examined and investigated if needed. As for your query regarding what medicine to bring the temperature down, an antipyretic like 1 gram of Paracetamol would bring the temperature down temporarily for her to be comfortable to travel up to the hospital.
