Suggest Treatment For Cyst In Leg With Swollen Thigh Muscles

My Dad developed a burning sensation in his righ leg which slowly moved on to his right leg resulting in back pain and leg drop. We were adviced operation for nerve decompression in L 4 & L5. the operation was done at leelavathi hospital under the guidance of Dr Padgaonkar. Post the operation he was recovering well and was able to walk with a stick. Now over the past 6 months he has difficulty in walking. When we did the MRI, the MRI revealed that there is cyst in l4 & 5 which has developed now. His left leg thigh muscle has considerable reduced and he is not able to walk more than 1 step now. Our neurologist Mr Vinay Chauhan suspected it to be diebatic neuropathy and we put him through IVIG drops. This has not helped as well. Now he is advicing us to put steroids. As per the orthopedic another operation needs to be done for cyst removal
Wanted advice as to what is to be done what is the best option here
