Suggest Treatment For Cramping Pain In The Lower Limbs

I am female 35yr old .About one and half month back,I was feeling cramping pain in my lower limbs just like that of period pain along with whole body pain and weakness. I got my vitD3 level 8.16 ng/ml.The doctor adviced me 3lac I. u vitD3 I. M and told me to take next dose after 30th. At same time my TSHLEVEL, T3,To level were .85ng/ml,7.3micro g/dl,5.43microIU/ml.After about 1 days I started radiating pain from pelvic region to above left knee.My doctor adviced USG which report was b/l mild dilatd pelvicalycealsystem (nonspecific? ).I was given 6 lac i.u vitD3 I. m and he told me to take 3 more doses of 6 lacI.mvit D3 at interval of 15days.The pain disappeared after one of taking in of vit D. Again I got myT3,T4,TSH level as1ng/ml,5.8 micro g/dl ,5.12microIU/ml.I no no my own or any family history of hypothyroidism. Does this high TSHLEVEL level is due to low vit D 3 level? I have just started taking thyronorm 15th idly for 4 days. Also please tell me does the radiating pain in my left was due to vitD3 defiency? Also tell me that should I take other 6 lac i.u vitD3 at intervalue of 15days without checking blood level of vit D3 ?Upto what level of vit D 3 should I take inj of vit D3?I always feel fatigubility without any reason ,my Hb level is 12g/dl.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Causes of your difficulties may be neuropathy or ischemic tissues. Neuropathic are seen in diabetics or injury of spine nerves.

If this is not your case then these symptoms are indicating circulatory problems in legs which are common in this age and there may be present atherosclerosis that obstructs blood vessels and causes pain and blisters to form.

You should do Doppler ultrasound of the leg or CT angiography to rule out such obstructive changes and then it can be treated properly by medications or by surgical and radiological procedures.

Also, you should have Aspirin and have elastic stockings applied, and should avoid cold environment and long walks.

In most cases, it can be managed with medications but sometimes surgery may be required in severe cases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
