Suggest Treatment For Cold, Hoarseness And Sore Throat In A Child
My 4.5 mth old had a cold which has gone but has left him with a raspy voice for bout 6 days which is starting to sound sore, he has also stopped sleeping through the night other than this he is very happy and is loving his 'new' voice, how can I make him more comfortable and calm his throat?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of cold, hoarseness and sore throat which seems to be mainly due to bacterial infection or poor oral hygiene. It could be due to coinfection by virus as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene and give child sip by sip warm water. You should take antibiotic Amoxicillin for 5 days. Visit pediatrician once if symptoms keeps on persisting and get it examined. You should get routine blood tests and throat swab test done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
