Suggest Treatment For Cluster Headache

I have had a headache on the right side of my head with pressure behind my right eye for over a year. I ve been to my optomologist, ENT, and neurologist. My neurologist insists it is a pinched nerve in my neck. I have had 2 injections and tried gabapentin with no relief. My rheumatologist mentioned a cluster headache. For some reason, I had total relief for about 3 to 4 weeks for no apparent reason. Any thoughts???

I cannot comment on whether or not this can be nerve impingement. This will require some analysis and reports to confirm. There are a few things that you can get done. A second opinion from a neurologist may also help you.

There are a few reasons this may not be nerve impingement and there are a few reasons this can be. The favour of it is that cluster headaches usually do not last for an year. But since gabapentin did not work, it is possible that you have the cluster headache.

The headache type is a cluster but it is actually a type of migraine. This occurs in people who get repeated headaches. The migraines usually start because of a trigger factor. These are things which start them.

You can do a few things to prevent these:
- Avoid the trigger factors
- Sleep 8 hours daily
- Eat regular meals
- Inhale steam mixed with eucalyptus oil to clear the nasal passages
- Take Paracetamol 500 every time you feel like you have a headache

Try these things regularly for a month and then follow up. All the best.

Hope this helps you
