Suggest Treatment For Chronic Pancreatitis And Superior Mesenteric Artery Disease

Good evening. I am POA for a young lady (40yo) who has chronic pancreatitis and was recently diagnosed with superior mesenteric artery disease. Her team of doctors decided that a laperoscopy is not possible. We were wondering how big of a scar we will be looking at, and how her life will be affected post surgery. Thank you!

Hi,

Chronic pancreatitis may be a debilitating illness and may need surgical intervention if medical treatment is not able to settle the symptoms. If laparoscopic surgery isn't possible open surgery may be needed. Detailed surgical review may be required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
