Suggest Treatment For Chronic Cough With Thick Phlegm In Throat
hi, I'm a 19 year old girl, healthy, and for over 3.5 months now i haven't been able to breath. I have a chronic cough and wake up every morning coughing long thick spaghetti phlegm (sometimes with traces of blood). Sometime i choke on them they r so long. I've been to doctors at emergency rooms and appointments, and they keep saying I have asthma or gerd. yet the gerd medication did not work after one month (so we stopped it) and the inhalers make my breathing worse. symbicort seems to be the only thing that works. but only works for about 30 min after each puff
I would suggest you to consult a Pulmonologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examinatiion, sputum culture, chest x-ray and Upper G.I endoscopy [if GERD is suspected] can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now take anti-allergics like Benadryl, cough expectorants containing Guaifenesin, Dextromethorphan and Phenylephrine.. Do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room.. Stewroid inhalers can also help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
