Suggest Treatment For Child Suffering From Chills, Cough, Headache And Stomach Ache

My child has chills, cough, headach and stomac ach - she trew up one time and her nose is runny. She is now running a 100 feaver and we have been giving her child advill once every 8 hours to keep the fever down. Now she is sleeping. She got sick at school. I live in New Jersey and heard on the news that some kids came down with whooping cough so I am covering my basis.

Pediatrician 's  Response
These are all symptoms of a flu-like illness, rather than whooping cough. The reason I am saying this is that you have probably given her the vaccine against whooping cough; secondly, you do not describe any whoop following her cough; thirdly, her cough is not occurring in long bouts; fourthly, stomach ache and headache are normally not a part of whooping cough unless the cough is very severe in nature.

Continue giving her treatment for fever. Advil should work against the pains as well.

Hope this helps.
