Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter was just told she might or might not have cervical cancer but they won t know until they do the biopsy. The doctor told her there are 18 different types of this cancer and that my daughter has number 18 the rarest kind. What does that mean?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Cervical cancer affects cervix. There are various types of cervical cancer. These types differentiate only on the basis of tissue. And for tissue diagnosis, biopsy is must. Biopsy is also needed to confirm whether it is cancerous growth or benign growth. So get done biopsy from cervix. Treatment also differs on type of cervical cervix. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your daughter. Thanks.
