Hello, My mother has been diagnosed and found that she has bulky uterus with hyperechoic mass lesion in endometrial cavity measuring 43*35mm. Our doctor suggested her D&C and biopsy after that as there was a question on the report saying metastasis ? She is aged 56 yrs and is diabetic. Could you please let us know if this confirms cancer? if yes, is it curable. Thank you!
Unfortunately your question really is impossible to answer without an extensive review of the pathology report from you mother's D and C. The exact wording of the report is very important. Your mother may or may not have cancer... there are many types of small mass lesions in the uterus that are not cancer, and the mention of the word "metastasis" needs to be seen in context to explain fully. Also, there are many kinds of cancer of the uterus and all have different management and prognosis. I suggest you speak to your mother's doctor to explain the situation in more detail, perhaps by attending her next doctor's appointment. If there is any suggestion of cancer on the D and C, her doctor will likely recommend a consultation with a Gyn Oncologist (cancer specialist) or a hysterectomy for diagnosis and treatment.
