Suggest Treatment For Blocked Nose In An Infant

Hi doctor. My 6 weeks old son sounds like he has blocked nose especially at night mostly when he is breastfeeding. But there's no mucus n sometimes he seems like it's chocking a bit. But during the day he doesn't sound like that. What could it be?

Thanks.
Florence.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your infant have symptoms of blocked nose which could be nasal polyp, allergic reaction and deviated nasal septum.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to keep head of child elevated while sleeping. apply warm compresses. You should consult pediatrician for proper examination. Doctor may order nasal endoscopy and blood tests. Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestant sprays. Doctor may also prescribe anti allergic or recommend surgery in case of deviated nasal septum or nasal polyp.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
