Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my husband has been suffering from a blocked bile duct. A dr. In Newfoundland tried twice to put a stent in with no success. His eyes are yellow and they are running test now just in case he need to go for a liver transplant. We were hoping to leave the province to see another Dr. To see if possiable to get a stent in to open up the bile duct. If they cook get out through the bile duct he wouldn t need a transplant!!
Noted the history about your husband having blocked bile duct and the stenting failed. The alternatives are there : - First of all to have MRCP that is MRI of liver, bile tree and pancreas to know the exact cause of the blockage. - If the blockage is old one can go for per-cutaneous stenting of the dilated bile duct. - Laparoscopic or open exploration and to go for any bypass. - It is necessary to have prothrombine time. And get treated with Vitamin K.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
