Suggest Treatment For Belching For A 65 Year Old Male

I am belching considerably more than previously and have been told my breathe is not good. I have no discomfort and bowels appear to be working properly. Sometimes belching includes taste of what appears to be digestive juices however, I am not throwing up. Should I have my stomach checked? Note: 65 year old male, otherwise believe I am healthy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

To reduce getting rid of excess air in the form of belching you need to eat and drink slowly (Taking your time can help you swallow less air), avoid carbonated drinks and beer (They release carbon dioxide gas), quit smoking (if applies), get moving (increase your physical activity and do exercise), treat heartburn by taking antacid gels and take an anti-gas medication like simethicone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh, General & Family Physician
