Suggest Treatment For A Multiloculated Retrocerebellar CSF Signal Cyst Which Exhibits Mass Effect On The Cerebellar Hemisheres And Vermis
I just got results from an MRI of the cervical spine. I ve been experiencing pain and numbness from my neck down through my right shoulder, elbow and right hand. The purpose for the MRI was to rule out herniated or ruptured cervical disc s. In the finding, along with confirmation of 2 herniations was that I have a multiloculated retrocerebellar CSF signal cyst measuring 4.5cm x3.5mm that is located anterior to posterior and it says it exhibits mass effect on the cerebellar hemisheres and vermis. My question is what is this, and should I be concerned. My family doctor and chiropractor down played it and they are more interest in the two herniated disc s.
The two herniated disc need to be managed. The herniated discs can be managed by rest and painkillers initially. Surgery needs to be done when rest and painkillers do not work. Retro-cerebellar cyst causing compression on the cerebellum can cause cerebellar symptoms. Treatment of cerebellar cyst depends on its location and feasibility of surgery.
