Hello,

Large knot behind the knee can be due to the cyst (Baker's cyst). It is usually associated with Arthritis(OA/RA).

The knee may get swollen, there may be stiffness & pain. Visit ER, get physically examined, get investigations like Blood tests. CT, MRI be done to rule out deep vein thrombosis.

Get tests for RA & OA be done, get evaluated get treated at the earliest. Your treatment will depend upon the pathology (aspiration/surgery) & the severity detected.

In the meantime, use a cane or a crutch, do not strain unnecessarily, stay comfortable.

For pain take Ibuprofen or NSAIDS, if OA or RA is detected, take medications regularly & do regular exercises(knee exercise/stretch exercises).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
