Suggest Treatment For A Feeling Of Fluid Building Up In The Ears

Hello, I am having issues with both my ears. It constantly feels like there I'm in a plane and need to chew gum or yawn to make them pop. This feeling has been going on for about two weeks and progressively getting worse, because now my hearing is affected. Also it feels like there is fluid building up in them. And a constant buzzing. How do I get rid of that feeling or the fluid?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain seems to be constant feeling like tbeing in a plane and need to chew gum or yawn to make the ears to pop along with hearing reduction and feeling like there is fluid building up in them with a constant buzzing that can be due to tinnitus seems to be most probably due to fluid accumulation behind the eardrum and blocked eustachian tube leading to Eustachian tube dysfunction..
It can occur after a bout of cold as the ear and throat are connected via Eustachian tube or can be due to ear infection..

I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, MRI, otoscopy etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised a course of antibiotics, oral as well as nasal decongestants like Xylometazoline nasal sprays.
Along with it steam inhalation and chewing chewing gum can help..
In case of no improvement in 15 days surgical drainage by making a small incision through the eardrum can help..
Pressure equalisation tubes can also be placed..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
