Suggest Treatment For A Blood Filled Round Bump On The Back

I think I have a carbuncle??? On the seat just at the top of the leg in back. I ve had them before on occasion-seem to be prone to them. It is round, very hard, looks the color of a bruise. I cleaned with alcohol and try to open it (only got blood) and covered it with antibiotic salve and bandage. Am I treating it correctly?

Hi,

It may be a boil, also called pyoderma. Consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment. There is no need to rupture it. If it is ruptured it self, remove the pus. I would recommend a course of antibiotic like cefixime with anti-inflammatory drugs. Apply antibiotic cream like Sisomicin. Clean the area with diluted Dettol. Improve immunity and hygiene to prevent the relapse of pyoderma.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
