hi..
i understand your concern regarding conceiving. first of all, i would like to suggest you to have a positive attitude and do not loose faith. Here are the important things you must know regarding PCOD.
PCOD is major cause of infertility in reproductive age group women which is very much treatable. before suggesting the treatment, i would like to know certain aspects of your history:
1) did your wife had any hormonal tests done? if so what are results of those tests.
2) has she undergone transvaginal scan to check the status of her uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes?
the main reason for not getting pregnant in a PCOD woman is because of her disturbed hormonal levels of Follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) Luteinizing hormone (LH). these are the most important hormones for egg development and maturation.
If this hormonal panel was not done for your wife, i would suggest you to talk to your treating doctor and get it done. If these hormone levels are not normal then there are medications to normalize them.
If your wife has normal levels of FSH and LH then you can proceed with the treatment of Fertomid. this medicine contains Clomiphene citrate which stimulates ovulation (egg production)
you said fertomid 50mg did not work the first time. please do not worry. i would suggest you to continue the same dose for next two cycles because sometimes ovaries respond to second or third cycle. so it is better to try the same dose for first three cycles in case it fails, then the dose can be increased to 100mg and tried for next three cycles. but do not try more than six cycles. if fertomid fails to work for six cycles we have alternative treatment plans.
i understand it sounds scary but keep stress levels to zero.
so i suggest you to talk to your treating doctor and plan the cycles carefully. hope my answer really helped. good luck. in case of any more doubts please feel free to write back. thank you
