Suggest Safe Treatment For Hair Fall And Sore Bump On Scalp

I ve had hair loss in the front of my scalp and in the crown area. Now it s working it s way down the back of my head .I ve been taking biotin and the hair has come back but my scalp had bumps that pop up and they re quite sore and they only appear where the hair has thinned. The biggest spot was very shiny before the bottom pills. The Dr prescribed Rogaine. But it gave me a terrible headache so I only used it for a couple of months. Now I m just using natural oils do you think I need to see him again for another suggestion

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the hair fall sound to be related to various clinical disorders as:
- Chronic fungal infections
- Recurrent dandruff
- Deficiency of vitamin E, zinc, selenium or other trace elements
- Hereditary issues
- Hormone imbalances
- Side effect of some medications as chemotherapy or others
- Other metabolic or endocrine disorders

The associated bumps with soreness can be part of folliculitis or others. Following are best guidelines from my side for better recovery:
- Control of dandruff (if present) with Ketoconazole shampoo
- Avoid commercial hair dye or colors (if using)
- Balanced nutritious diet
- Supportive medication of multi vitamin, B complex with anti oxidants
- Local application of Minoxidil lotion (5%) with gentle massage over the roots of hair

Regular follow up with dermatologist and following all guidelines.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
