I rolled my ankle outward play racquetball about 4 weeks ago. I was able to walk on it immediately though it was swollen and bruised. I went to urgent care and had it xrayed and they did not find anything at that time. It is now 4 weeks later and it will swell after I am on it all day, though I have no specific pain. If I move it in certain directions I fell slight discomfort. I am wondering how long I can expect the swelling to occur. I did purchase an ankle support that has a neoprene sock with the toes and heels cut out, and to 2 1/2 in wide straps that wrap around the ankle from the bottom of the foot attaching on either side of the ankle. This supports my ankle well while I'm on it preventing the swelling, but will swell once I take it off. I have played two games of racquetball and one game of volleyball using this brace, but am concerned I may be over working it until it is fully healed. I have not been diligent with the exercises I found on the internet to help treat it such as drawing the alphabet with your foot, etc. When I do, I feel slight discomfort. What would you advise for my continued rehab of the injured ankle?
