Suggest Remedy For Swollen Lymph Nodes In Neck And Ear With Psoriasis

Female, age 40. History of psoriasis in the ear and on scalp. I have recently noticed that the gland at the base of my mouth under my tongue is swollen and painful. I also have an enlarged lymph node on the left side of my neck and my left ear, which has ear psoriasis, has been draining a great deal over the past few months. The swollen node under my tongue is new and is worrying me. Can you help?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about a 40 year old female having psoriasis in ear and on scalp, discharge from ear, development of lymph nodes in neck as explained by you.
The reason for the development of lymph nodes with ear discharge and
psoriasis are most probably the infection in the area of drainage that is from scalp, ear or even any infection in oral cavity like gingivitis and so on.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations.
Tests of blood.
Rule out diabetes.
Ultrasonography for the nodes and FNAC if needed.
Get started on appropriate antibiotic, anti-inflammatory.
Continue treatment for psoriasis, may be take an opinion of a Dermatologist.
Once the course is over if not much effective for ear discharge then take an opinion of an ENT Surgeon also for proper cleaning, tests and whatever is needed to get additional treatment if required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
