Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain And Stiffness Around Tailbone After Lifting Heavy Weights

I am a 26 yeard old female. I was lifting a concrete fountain out of my pond (about 2 deep) and didn t have anyone to help me. so I decided to pull the fountain up the side and up on the lawn. when I lifted the fountain I heard a pop in my lower back and have been having considerable pain in my back for over a week now. The pain is around my tailbone (top of my butt crack to be exact) and it is a sharp ache that seems to be more on the right side, but sometimes goes to the left side as well. any ideas on what might be wrong? If I sit too long and get up, it seems my back completely stiffens up and takes a few minutes to loosen up again. it hurts to sit, it hurts to stand and hurts to lie down. pain killers dont seem to be helping much if at all. I don t want to go to the dr just to be givien a prescription for drugs to mask the pain. I need it fixed cause this sucks!

Hello,

I have studied your case.

According to your symptoms this looks as acute lumbar muscle sprain in your lower back.
Most probably due to sudden jerk.
Another differential diagnosis can be lumbar disc bulge leading to sudden onset of pain.Intervertebral disc compresses spinal cord and leads to lower back pain.

When such patient comes to our hospital we usually do x ray to rule out any nerve compression.
MRI spine will show any disc bulge is there or not.
And when muscle sprain is confirmed muscle relaxant, analgesic and neurotropic medication can be started.
Till time, avoid lifting weights, Sit with support to back. You can consult physiotherapist for help.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
