I had pedicure done a two days ago. Master was working on my cuticle longer then usual. Since then, the right side of my big toe was red, swollen and very painful to the touch. I was using Neosporin first evening (it didn t help). Then I was using iodine. Still in pain. What else can I do?

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

There is likely possibility of cellulitis (infection of soft tissue) of great toe, which may be due to injury caused while dealing with corner of the nail.

You can try pain killer & anti-inflammatory medicine like diclofenac with serratopeptidase. If there is no relief or it increase in size or there is fever in that case there is a need for antibiotics like amoxicillin + clavulunic acid.

Possibility of this type of infection is more in diabetic patient so better to check your blood sugar level and Complete blood count.

Topical application of neosporin or iodine will only help if there is external wound.

Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
