Suggest Remedy For Persistent Cough After Having Mirena Put In

I recently got the Mirena put in and now I have a cough that started after getting it put in. It's been maybe 4 days. I also had this same issue when taking Depakote for Migraines. Could the Mirena be causing this cough so soon after getting it inserted?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
You seem to have allergic tendency from your past history. allergy to the hormonal/ non hormonal ingredient of the IUD , may lead to cough ,if it had followed insertion of IUD.
You should get allergy detection test done to confirm the allergens including contents of IUD./ blood TLC,DLC counts / Xray chest if needful.
Treatment consists of preventing exposure to allergens / anti allergic medicines like cetrizine / montelucast/ anti mucolytic cough Syrup./ antibiotics / broncho dialaters as per need.
* I feel you should consult a chest physician for treatment of cough at present/ investigations to find the basic cause of cough & removal of Mirena as per need. Should be replaced by other suitable contraceptive with your doctor's advise.
