Hello,

I would like to list your symptoms once:
1) Chronic sweating
2) Nausea
3) Excessive sleeping
4) Increased appetite
5) Abdominal bloating sensation
6) Intolerance to heat and cold

All the above symptoms can be of menopause. The symptoms of menopause can last 5-10 years after periods get stopped. Now to those females who come to me with similar complaints, I would suggest the following:
1) Most of the time eat vegetarian food and with very less spices.
2) fresh fruits and vegetables help a lot in reducing bloating and nausea sensations.
3) Chewable version of Ondansetron tablet is available it can be used in case of excessive nausea.
4) Daily Physical work out helps reduce the menopausal symptoms considerably.
5) To reduce bloating sensation:-
a) Eat less acidic foods
b) Eat in less quantity frequently
c) Avoid lying posture immediately after eating
d) Take upright posture at least for 20 min after eating anything.
6) Tab. Pantoprazole 40 mg to be taken before food would help reduce bloating symptoms.
7) When possible, please go for thyroid testing T3,T4,TSH.

Menopausal symptoms can be controlled by the following techniques:
1) Practice yoga asanas.
2) Practice praanayama daily
3) Meditate daily at least for 10 min a day.

All the above will lead to parasympathetic activation and thus decrease unwanted menopausal symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
