Suggest Remedy For Crimson Burst Blood Vessels On The Surface Of Shin

Hi there, I seem to have developed a photosensitive response after taking ovulan (norethisterone) for 3-4 days to delay my period. At first I developed a bumpy itchy rash on my lower legs, arms and stomach and now my shins appear to have crimson burst blood vessels on them beneath the surface. I have stopped taking the medicine almost 24 hours and the rest of the rash is going down but my shins look terrible. How long before the drug leaves my system? And will the skin return to normal? Thank you

Dear patient,
Thanks for your concerns about your health and welcome to HealthCareMagic.

Norethisterone is given for many conditions and helps delay heavy periods too. The fact is that this drug causes problems with people who have clots in their legs or patients who have a past herpes virus infection (rashes and itching), and some persons who have a rare inherited (at birth) disease called as Porphyria.

The rashes your are describing on the legs, arms and stomach tally with
the above exceptions.

The drug Norethisterone has a half life of 5 to 12 hours, given the fact that say a 5 mg tablet has been taken. Half life means that 50% of the drug is destroyed by the body (metabolized).

Your shins should settle down in time, given that Norethisterone has triggered off any one of the above 3 conditions.

Please see an OBGYN doctor about alternatives to Norethisterone, as it is rather unsuitable for you.

Otherwise you happen to be quite fine.
Please follow the instructions and take care of your health.
