Suggest Remedy For Bump Removal In Cornea

I have a pterygium for several years now but recently a small white "bump" has appeared in between the cornea and the inside part of the eye. The dr. has given me a steroid drop to make the swelling go down but nothing has changed.
Should I see an opthamologist instead of my optometrist?
