I have been on birth control for six months. I was supposed to take it last Thursday and I could not take it until the following Monday because my doctor did not call it in. That Saturday I had unprotected sex, but he did not ejaculate inside of me. A week has past and I ve been taking my birth control daily, I ovulated yesterday and today I m having a weird brown discharge. I learned that this could be just ovulation bleeding, but I ve never had this happen before.
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Leaving birth control pills in between can lead to ineffective contraceptive efficacy. In this scenario, unprotected intercourse can lead to pregnancy. Brown spotting and discharge can be due to implantation bleeding. I will suggest you to wait for the periods, if delayed, then you should get your urine pregnancy test done to confirm the diagnosis and get appropriate treatment timely. Ovulation should not occur if one is on oral contraceptive pills. Hope you found the answer helpful. Regards Dr Deepti Verma OBGYN
