Suggest Remedies For Mild Fever And Dry Cough Post A Thoracic Surgery

I had a pacemaker implant don t the end of February, there were complications and I had a second thoracic surgery done within 48 hours to connect two leads to the left ventricle. Immediately after that second surgery I began having a low grade fever, dry cough, weakness, and shortness of breath. My doctor s have told me that my heart and the pacemaker are working fine and they don t know why I m continuing to have these problems. They had me on a Z pack of antibiotics with no results and the latest was a high dose pack for 6 days of a steroid. While on the steroid I felt fantastic and thought my life was going back to normal but after the last pill within two days I was right back to the fevers, weakness, cough, and shortness of breath. I need some answers as my family leave will be over in about three weeks. I ve told the doctors this and that at that time I will lose all medical insurance and income, they just don t seem to care and tell me that it might be another two to three months before I start feeling better.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The heart rate is low but not dangerously low and blood pressure shows no hypodynamic circulation or compromise on cardiac function so if echocardiogram shows normal ejection fraction and EKG has no heart block then no immediate intervention is needed however fresh thyroid profile should be repeated as under treatment or low thyroid function in your case be causing the same. Meanwhile rest of treatment needs to be continued avoiding any drug which slows heart rate like beta blockers etc.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
