Suggest Remedies For Chronic Constipation And Black Stool

I haven t had a bowel movement in days. I also don t eat much. I ve been having problems with my uterus as in severe bleeding & uterine fibroids, a few other things. But I just went to the bathroom & half the stool was brown but I piece (sorry don t know how else to word it) was completely black. Is that because it s old? Because I haven t gone for days? Internal bleeding?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Black stool can be due to different possible causes but the most common are :
(1) use of iron supplements
(2)use of pepto bismol
(3)bleeding from the upper gastrointestinal tract (stomach and small intestines). By the time the blood reaches the anus to be excreted , it is black

If there is no history of use of iron supplements or pepto bismol and the black stool continues, it would be best to see your doctor for an assessment which would include physical examination and likely imaging as well

Depending on your symptoms, blood tests such as a complete blood count, may also be required.

I hope this helps
