Hello,

You should always take birth control measures before having unprotected sex to avoid pregnancy. You can use condoms, contraceptive pills or intrauterine devices to prevent pregnancy. Even if you fail to use the contraception before having sex, taking an emergency contraceptive pill just after having sexual intercourse till 72 hours can prevent pregnancy. However, it is recommended to take it within 24 hours of unprotected sex. The sooner she takes the pill, the more are chances of having protection from pregnancy.

However, you have failed to mention if you had used any birth control measures before or after having sex. If you had and used them correctly, you are up to 95% safe from pregnancy.

If you had not used any contraceptive measures before or after having sexual intercourse, there are chances that she is pregnant. If her last period was 14th February and you had sex on 1st March, then these might be the days she was ovulating and that increases the chances of conceiving. If she has delayed her periods for more than a week, then it is recommended to take a home pregnancy test.

Home pregnancy test kits are available at all medical stores. Read the instructions on the pack carefully. She has to open the pack and urinate on the indicator area. A (+) or (-) sign will appear on the indicator area indicating positive or negative pregnancy test, respectively.

If she is not pregnant and still not getting menstruation, I would recommend you to visit a gynecologist to rule out the cause of the delay.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. Let us know if you have nay further queries.

Best,
