Suggest Precautions To Be Taken Post STD Exposure Through Sex

Hey. A couple of months ago, i met up with my ex boyfriend who I had been split up with for about two months, who was my first boyfriend and first person I had sex with. We ended up having sex, then a few days later he told me he has just found out that he had caught two stds. This left me devastated and hurt real bad. I felt so disgusting. I got myself tested as soon as I could, and came up positive for one of the stds, but didn t pick up on the other. I still feel paranoid and disgusted to this day. I have got myself tested three times since then and have been clear. But, because I am such an idiot I met up with him again two weeks ago, we had sex, and I am now left paranoid again because I know he has had multiple sexual partners. I was aware of this, but still slept with him. I m going to get myself checked out again as soon as I can this week. I just feel really disgusted and I just want to get over the whole situation. I am not going back to him, I knew that. I only met up with him to get closure because I was still hurting real bad, but, obviously that did not go to plan as I still care for him. I just need help to get over feeling disgusted.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

It is really very foolish on your part to have unprotected sex, not once but twice, specially since you already knew beforehand that he possibly has multiple sexual partners and likely carries an STD's.
There is no way you can do anything now to prevent an STD if you did caught one from him.
I would suggest you to visit a sexual health specialist for counselling regarding safe sexual practices and also to get tested for all possible STD's.
Moreover, if you develop any suggestive symptoms or signs of an STD e.g urethral or vaginal discharge, genital ulcer, erosion, any growth or swelling you must get yourself checked and treated appropriately.
Screening for STD's like HIV and syphilis can be done earliest at 1 month and should be repeated at 3 months for a conclusive result.
Herpes can be tested by detecting antibodies against it earliest at 2 weeks.
I would also suggest a swab test for gonorrhea and chlamydia at 2 weeks from your sexual activity.

Regards
Always practice safe sex with a condom!
