Hi,

Enlarged tonsil on one side that is left in your case can usually be due to a condition called para-tonsillitis or even quinsy that is collection of pus between the tonsil and lateral pharyngeal wall. This gives constitutional symptoms of malaise, pain, fever and referred pain to the left ear and neck. There may be lymph node enlargement.

One needs a combination of an antibiotic, metronidazole to cover any sort of bacteria like gram positive, negative and anaerobic. To continue with Ibuprofen and paracetamol. Povidone iodine gargles. Plenty of oral fluids and if swallowing is very painful then you may need intravenous fluids and antibiotics. Consult your Doctor and take an opinion of an ENT Surgeon tests of blood and any other relevant investigations as would be advised.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
