Suggest Medication For Redness And Burning Of Foot Due To Contact Of Paint Thinner

My husband got paint thinner in his sock, thus on skin, as he was cleaning paint off his leg. The paint thinner stayed on his skin for 4 hours, as he could not leave work to change socks. Now his foot is red and burning after cleansing with soap and water. We tried an ice pack to see if that would help with the burn, but it didn't. How should we treat it?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain redness and burning sensation of the skin of the foot after exposure to paint thinner for 4 hours seems to be due to chemical burns over the skin due to continuous exposure to irritant for a longer period of time..
Nothing to worry as it will resolve soon..
You can continue doing cool compresses as doing just nce will not solve the purpose..
Along with it you can apply steroid ointment like Triamcinolone Acetonide over it..
You can also take anti allergics like levocetrizine for relief..
Soaking the foot in cold water will also relieve..
In case if it still does not improve consult a General Physician and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
