Suggest Medication For Pain On Big Toe

I stumped my big toe and the toenail hurts really badly....however, it is not bruised...what can I do to relieve the pain? When I touch the top of the toenail, it nearly kills me....I have been putting a band-aid over the toenail, but it still hurts.

Hello,

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that ibuprofen can help improve your situation, coupled with local iodine ointment.

Anyway, it is important consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam in order to investigate for the possible causes underlying your complaints: a bacterial infection, a fungal infection or high uric acid levels. Some tests may be needed ( complete blood count, PCR, ESR).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
