I cut my knuckle on my finger just below the fingernail. The blood flowed non-stop for about 10 minutes until I applied enough pressure for the wound to close. It started bleeding a little when I washed my hands before applying a bandage and anti-biotic cream. I would like to know if I should seek medical help.
Hello, I can understand your concern for reddish cut on the knuckle.
After reading your query it appears that you got bit deeper cut which caused profuse bleeding for 10 minutes.
I suggest you to get immunized for tetanus by tetanus toxoid injection. It is much required if you have not get immunized within 5 years.
I also suggest you to keep a watch over the area and if there is an increase in size of the swelling or any sign of infection or any deep pain then can report to your family physician.
If I were your treating doctor then would have prescribed you a pain killer anti-inflammatory drug such as paracetamol for two times to reduce the inflammation. If there are any sign s of infections such increase in size of the swelling or any sign of infection or any deep pain then would have prescribed you a course of antibiotic.
All the best.
