Suggest Medication For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome During Pregnancy

I have spinal stenosis in my neck along with my lower back and I was supposed to have surgery for corpal tunnel but since I m pregnant they didn t want to do it and prescribe me anything. I am also supposed to have another back surgery. So my question is, what type of pain med is safe to take during pregnancy? My Pcp has had me on Vicodin but I don t know if that s safe.

Hello,

Vicodin is an opioid drug and is not safe during pregnancy. You can take paracetamol for pain during pregnancy but many times it is not sufficient.
You will need to talk to your doctor and see the chance of other treatments such as a splint or physiotherapy.

I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
