Suggest Effective Medication For Stinging And Redness In Face, Ankles And Shins

Hello. My name is Craig, I am 70, in good health, except for A Fib. I take Meds to control the A Fib and have not had any problems for over a year. Yesterday I was on the beach, some thing I have done my entire life, I used sun screen, wore a wide brim hat, wore a t shirt, and sat under an umbrella. I did spend a lot of time in the water. Last night my face, ankles, and shins were all red and stinging, very uncomfortable. I used aloe and Tylenol. Today the stinging is less, the redness remains, and my ankles are swollen. Is the swelling a normal reaction and why did I get burned? Thank for any help. Craig

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to sunburn. I suggest using Calamine lotion for local application. I suggest using Tylenol in case of pain. Cool showers can also be very helpful in relieving the redness.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
