General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The cremaffin can be used for a short period of time, approximately a week, to help with your constipation.

In general laxatives should not be used for long periods at a time because they prevent the bowel from working well on its own and can actually cause constipation if used persistently.

It is important to make sure that you are using enough fluids and fiber. Fluid intake would not include any caffeine drinks or alcohol because these cause the body to lose fluids.

At least five servings of fiber daily- fruits, vegetables, whole grain foods

In addition, because it is difficult sometimes to get enough fiber, a fiber supplement may be needed eg cetrucil, metamucil, benefiber

I hope this helps
