Hi Doc good afternoon (here in the Philippines)! Can I asked about birth control ? if i am going to take a pills (althea) isn t necessary to take it with the same time everyday? My husband and I only do a calendar method hence, this is my first time in taking pills as birth control. Thank you in advance for answering my question Doc.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Althea is a combined low-dose oral contraceptive or birth control pill . Each tablet contains cyproterone acetate, a progesterone & ethinyl estradiol, a estrogen in very small dose. It work by preventing the ovulation (release of egg) in females. This pill should be taken from 1st day of menstruation bleeding for 21 days once daily. You could start it later also but then you have to use condoms for first 7 days. They should be taken at approximately same time of day. Regular taking increases its success rate. If you take the pills irregularly then there is small chance of failure of birth control, especially if you miss 1 or more pills. Therefore these pills should be taken at same time of day. Time which suits you the most.
