Suggest Cure For Shingles

I had my first bout with shingles after my husband was killed in an accident in 1980. Since then i had several minor breakouts, none seemed very severe. In Feb. of this year I developed a rashlike area on the back of my neck, just below my skull. It wasn't at all like the other lesions I had. With this i started horrible pain into my ear, inside my head and down my neck into the top of my left shoulder. It lasted about 3 weeks then disappeared. Last week it all started again but no rash. The pain is almost unbearable. I am nauseated and just don't know what to do. I can stand A LOT of pain, but this untolerable! I have tried various pain meds I used before I had back surgery, like Vicodin and Oxycodone, NOT a bit of relief!! What can I do?
