Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Before I make a suggestion, I need to know few things
1. When the weaning food was started? Is she taking bread or cereals? (for gluten allergy)
2. Which type of milk is she taking? (for lactose intolerance)
3. What is the content of stool? Is there any blood or mucus? Is it full watery or with specs? Is it of a large volume? (for infection and malabsorption)

After proper history, I would suggest stool examination test. I suggest to start zinc sulphate syrup 5ml once a day and it will aid in recovery and will shorten the duration of diarrhea. In my opinion if antibiotics have crossed 10 days duration you should stop them. Keep an eye on any signs of water loss such as dry mouth or decrease urine. If these are you should consult in emergency for treatment. You can use lactose free formula milk until the loose motion are settled.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ammara Kaleem, Pediatrician
